Need a little clarity?

You’re not alone - here are some of the most common questions clients ask before we get started

Do I need to know my style before I book?

Not at all. Part of my job is helping you discover what you love. If you have a Pinterest board or some inspiration images, great! But even if you’re not sure where to begin, we’ll gently unpack your preferences together and build a design that feels like you.

What if I already have some furniture or decor I want to keep?

Perfect! I always encourage reusing the pieces you love. You’ll send me photos and measurements of any existing items, and I’ll weave them into your design so they feel cohesive and intentional, not an afterthought.

Are your services only available in Australia?

All services are delivered online, so I can work with you from anywhere. That said, product sourcing and sample boxes are currently available within Australia only (due to shipping and supplier constraints).

What if I’m not happy with the first concept?

No problem. Each service includes at least one round of revisions (some include two). We’ll have a relaxed call to talk through what’s working and what’s not, and I’ll refine the design until it feels just right. This is a collaborative, pressure-free process - your voice matters.

How long does the design process take?

Most projects take between 2–4 weeks from the time you submit your questionnaire, measurements and photos. If you’re working to a deadline (like a move-in date or builder timeline), let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

Will I have everything I need to complete the room myself?

Yes! You’ll receive a full design plan including a mood board, layout/floor plan, styling guide and a shoppable list (depending on your package). Everything is clear and easy to follow; no design experience required.

Do you offer in-person consultations?

At this stage, all Possum + Wattle services are fully online. But they’re intentionally designed to feel personal, hands-on and supportive - just without the travel or schedule stress. If you’re local and something more custom is needed, feel free to reach out.

Can I upgrade my package or add additional rooms later?

Absolutely. Many clients start with one room and come back for more as their home evolves. If you’d like to upgrade or create a multi-room or whole-home bundle, just get in touch for a custom quote.

What’s the benefit of the Sample Box?

There’s something magical about holding the real deal in your hands - like seeing your benchtop sample next to your tile and thinking oh yes, that’s the one. The Sample Box saves you from chasing suppliers, paying for random swatches, and second-guessing your memory. Plus, who doesn’t like receiving pretty things in the mail?

How to set your budget

Let’s talk numbers, without the overwhelm.

One of the most common questions I get is: β€œHow much should I budget?” The honest answer is: it depends. Every space, lifestyle and timeline is different. Here’s a general guide to help you feel more grounded in what’s realistic.

If you’re just looking to refresh with paint, expect to spend $300–$500 on paint alone for a standard-sized room (if you’re DIY-ing). Hiring a professional painter? That’ll be more like $1,000–$3,000, depending on size and scope.

Looking for a standout hero piece like a sectional lounge or a 6-seater dining table and chairs? You’ll likely be investing somewhere between $2,000–$10,000, depending on size, materials and where you’re shopping.

Furnishing a whole living room from scratch - including a lounge, rug, coffee table, entertainment unit, occasional chairs, a lamp, some retail artwork and basic styling pieces - typically ranges from $10,000–$20,000. That can sound like a lot at first glance, but most people don’t buy it all at once. It’s a journey, not a shopping spree.

That’s the thing: furnishing a room, or an entire home, is a substantial investment. Whether you’re doing it slowly or in one go, you’re still spending real money on pieces that will shape how your home feels and functions every day. So why not make those decisions with clarity and confidence? When we work together, I’ll help you choose items that suit your space, support the way you live, and set you up for a home that can grow and shift with you over time.

That’s where thoughtful design comes in.

Together, we’ll create a plan that helps you prioritise where to spend, where to save, and how to stretch your budget with intention; so you’re not second-guessing every choice. I’ll guide you toward pieces that truly work - ones you’ll love living with for years to come.

When you design with care, your home becomes more than just a look, it becomes your foundation.
